I’m currently studying to become an industrial technical artist at YRGO in Gothenburg.
I am a creative board game enthusiast born on a rainy wednesday in the summer of 1993. Before I started this journey towards becoming a TA (technical artist) I was working as a graphic designer, and I still do some freelancing with illustration from time to time.
I realized that I was the most content when I got to use my creativity to solve technical challenges and design systems rather than only doing pure visual work. Today I'm enjoying experimenting with shaders and creating applications in Unity and Unreal.
A technical artist is the swiss army knife in the toolbox of 3d productions. We have general knowledge of 3D-production and programming, bridging the gaps between teams and finding solutions in the realms that are 'too technical' for artists and 'too artistic' for developers.
In smaller teams we can take on multiple roles because of our generalistic knowledge. Examples of areas where a technical artist could operate is tool development, pipleline optimization and realtime visualization.
